About Euridis

The main goals of the
Euridis association are

  • to inform members,
  • to define and control technical specifications (protocols),
  • to promote the use of protocols,
  • to be an agent for conformance testing.

The Euridis association promotes the use of standard protocols like DLMS over LPWAN (LoRaWAN and similar) and the IEC62056-3-1.

Committees & members

Our members are manufacturers, utilities and software companies. Several technical committees have been created since 2003 in order to anticipate the market needs.

DLMS COSEM over LPWAN

The Euridis Association is working closely with the main actors of the utility sector
like the DLMS UA to facilitate the definition of the DLMS COSEM profile
over LPWAN with a first implementation on LoRaWAN.

Evolution of the IEC 62056-3-1 standard

The protocol was drawn up in the 1990s. A first review of the standard was carried out in 2000. The development of the equipment leads to exchanging an increasingly large amount of data.

An upgrade of the transmission rate from 1,200 bps to 9,600 bps, along with an increase in the data package size the system is capable of transmitting, therefore appears to be indispensable. All of the developments ensure an ascending compatibility.

Equipment ID management

The cohabitation of equipment items on the Euridis bus (IEC 62056-3-1) is due to the fact that they have a sole address.
This is why the Euridis Association centralizes the communication IDs allocated to the equipment.

The fact is that some manufacturers use numbers without referring them to the Association.
This committee is entrusted with the mission of defining more stringent rules of allocation than at the present time.
